AA Travel Insurance advises not to panic after terror threat

Fri, 11 Aug 2006

AA Travel Insurance has advised travellers who may have been involved in the recent terror alert not to panic.

Travellers should follow the advice of police, security staff and airlines to ensure their safety, the travel insurance company has stated.

Anyone concerned about the level of cover their travel insurance policy offers should contact their provider.

However, if the Foreign Office has advised not to travel to certain locations, cancellations will be covered by travel insurance policies, AA Travel Insurance states.

Disinclination to travel - preferring not to travel when a holiday has already been booked - will not be covered by a travel insurance policy.

AA travel Insurance also recommends that as most travel insurance policies require valuable items such as cameras to be on board the aircraft, travellers should check that they are to be insured following recent security instructions to place all items in the aircraft's hold.

Some companies, such as Go Travel Insurance, will be extending their policies to cover these valuable items when stored in the aeroplane's hold.
