A travel insurance policy must meet the individual's needs in order to offer effective cover, one expert has warned.
Britons planning to hit the slopes this winter need to have a travel insurance policy which covers winter sports, or risk being under-insured, claimed Lisa Harris, a spokesperson for SAGA.
Holidaymakers should check the details of their travel insurance policy carefully, or ask their insurer to explain the terms over the phone to ensure that the cover will be effective.
Travel insurance should also not be regarded as an option but a necessity, as injury and baggage loss could happen due to the unpredictable condition at this time of year, she said.
Additionally, Ms Harris states that a travel insurance provider should ask questions about the holidaymaker's health.
"Quite usually if you are not asked about medical conditions then you are not covered," she asserted.
"Just make sure you are covered for everything you need . travel insurance is of the utmost importance."
These views echo those of Sainsbury's Bank, which recently warned that 457,000 Britons could be planning on taking a trip abroad without adequate travel insurance.
