AA Travel Insurance has offered tips to UK holidaymakers planning to head away for the summer.
The company states that two-thirds of families are planning a break this summer and the advice helps to organise a great trip.
Credit cards could be an area for concern, states AA Travel Insurance, as credit card providers may block usage for unfamiliar spending patterns if they are not warned.
The company also warns that travellers planning to use their own vehicles should ensure that their car insurance policy covers them while they are away.
However, travellers should also carefully read any car insurance documentation they sign for a hire car and take pictures of the vehicle, in case the company claims that damage was caused while using.
Many airlines' insurance policies will only cover luggage while still in the airport, warns the insurer, so travellers should inform them before leaving the building.
AA Travel Insurance also offers tips to holidaymakers on their health, advising them to eat yoghurt for several weeks before leaving to prevent illness and to carry bottled water at all times.
Meanwhile, with many UK residents planning to take trips to European festivals this summer, Richard Mason of moneysupermarket recently advised travellers to take out travel insurance policies even for short breaks.
