At this time of year many people start to think about their summer holidays and travel insurance is an essential part of vacation plans, says an insurance provider.
According to the travel insurance provider the Post Office, 25 million people are intending to go on holiday for two weeks this summer.
Almost half of the people surveyed by the insurance provider said the summer break was their favourite type of holiday.
"This year looks set to be a bumper year for travel with over 30 million of us planning to take a holiday - 1.1 million more than 2005," commented Hugh Stacey, head of travel services at the Post Office.
However, many holidaymakers are not just enjoying a break in the summer, with weekend breaks and winter holidays growing in popularity, making travel insurance vital all year round.
Hugh Stacey recommends that consumers could be better off investing in an annual travel insurance policy to give them peace of mind year-round, whether on the slopes or the beach.
The insurance provider's survey revealed that over a third of those questioned would benefit from a year-round travel insurance policy, as they said they planned to take at least two or more holidays this year.
