Gardeners can now take advantage of a new insurance policy that offers increased levels of cover, just in time for the summer.
With more people heading outside to enjoy the sunshine in their gardens, Saga insurance has pushed its levels of cover up to £3,500, to insure against damage and theft.
The insurance company is offering insurance for £2.07 a month to provide gardeners peace of mind that their garden will be covered in the event of damage or theft.
Insurance claims for damage to gardens are more prevalent than many assume, with one in ten people reporting garden damage due to marauding children or grandchildren.
According to a survey by Gardening Whick, Which? 1.6 million households have had something stolen from their gardens, amounting to £90 million of losses nationwide.
Andrew Goodsell from the insurance company also advises taking out some form of garden insurance policy, as it could be useful when people are considering moving house.
A well-maintained garden can encourage people to offer a decent price for a property.
"Gardens can really enhance the look of a house - indeed our recent research shows that 82 per cent of people regard the garden as the most important feature when house-hunting, " commented Mr Goodsell.
