Co-operative Insurance will launch a new advertising campaign to promote its eco car insurance policy, designed to make drivers aware of the harmful effects of carbon emissions.
Costing £1.3 million, the car insurance commercials will feature a grass covered car, aiming to suggest that drivers can reduce their carbon footprint by using the new policy.
The advert features the strapline: "Now you can get green car insurance that doesn't cost the earth."
Co-operative Insurance cites figures from the Department for Transport, which reveal that 55 billion more miles were driven in 2004 than 1990 - which increases the amount of harmful emissions.
David Newman, the company's director of marketing, comments: "This is a significant campaign designed to make people aware of our alternative green motor insurance policy which offsets harmful CO2 emissions and contributes to the management of the environmental impact throughout the entire journey."
Co-operative Insurance launched the eco car insurance policy earlier this year, as part of a number of initiatives it has undertaken.
The group recently installed wind turbines on its Manchester headquarters in a bid to reduce energy consumption.
