Travel insurance provider offers camera advice

Mon, 30 Oct 2006

UK holidaymakers have been given a number of tips to prevent the need for travel insurance claims for lost cameras.

Travel insurance provider esure has offered the tips to Britons, which include keeping cameras safe in a waterproof case if by the pool or on a boat trip.

Other advice includes choosing camera bags which have secure fasteners and do not display the equipment brand, which could prevent a travel insurance claim for loss.

The company claims that Britons are now taking more photos than ever while on holiday, with one-fifth snapping over a hundred times.

Furthermore, the rise in digital technology means that 73 per cent of UK travellers now have a digital camera, while 72 per cent take a mobile phone - which could lead to hefty travel insurance claims if lost.

Jacky Brown, Head of Travel Insurance at esure, commented: "Having adequate travel insurance cover is essential for peace of mind - especially when it comes to protecting these desirable and expensive must-have gadgets."

AA Travel Insurance recently warned that more than 400,000 UK holidaymakers could be under-insured for winter sports this season.
