Health insurance customers who want added peace of mind may be interested to know that Bupa Individual Protection has expanded the number of conditions that it covers.
From April 25th 2007, the medical insurance company has announced that critical illness plans will now cover a total of 37 conditions - 14 more than stipulated as a minimum requirement by the Association of British Insurers.
Among the additional illnesses covered are cardiomyopathy, systemic lupus erythematosus and coronary angioplasty.
Meanwhile, customers will also be able to arrange guaranteed health insurance cover for up to 40 years.
Steve Casey, product and marketing manager at the health insurance provider, commented on the changes.
"We are pleased to offer enhanced coverage to our members," he said.
Bupa currently offers a range of different health insurance products offering various degrees of protection in the event of illness.
With certain deals, health insurance customers may be able to arrange a higher voluntary excess - meaning that they will pay more towards the cost of medical treatment while the health insurance company provides the rest - in return for lower premiums.
However, Bupa health insurance premiums do not increase depending upon the number of insurance claims made.
