New service launched for pet insurance customers

A new service has been launched for pet owners in the UK designed to offer practical advice and peace of mind with regard to pet health.

The service, launched by More Than, offers free-phone advice for pet insurance customers in the UK. Intended to cut down on unnecessary trips to the vet, the Vetfone service is similar in style to the NHS Direct model, staffed by qualified personnel.

Advice is available for all domestic pets including those who are not covered by a pet health insurance policy.

Vetfone is open for use throughout the day and night and the service is included in all More Than pet insurance polices. More Than managing director Mike Holliday-Williams explained that Vetfone is designed to provide "fast, professional advice".

"Not only will Vetfone save them time and money in the event their pet doesn't actually need to see a vet, but it will help put their mind at ease knowing help's only a phone call away," he stated.

Figures from More Than suggest that almost half of all trips to the vet may be unnecessary, with pet owners needing only advice.
