Travel insurance reminder issued to single-sex travel groups

Tue, 10 Apr 2007

Holidaymakers have again been reminded about the importance of arranging valid travel insurance cover before jetting off overseas.

It comes as banking institution Halifax publishes a new study, which shows the changing travel habits of British revellers.

According to the study, 26 per cent of men and 19 per cent of women have been on holiday exclusively with members of their own sex within the last 12 months.

Moreover, 67 per cent of respondents to the financial services provider's survey admitted they were more likely to travel on a same-sex holiday than five years ago.

Vicky Watson at Halifax Travel Insurance stressed the need for all tourists to arrange travel insurance protection beforehand.

"It is important holidaymakers, whether travelling in single-sex parties or mixed groups, consider their travel insurance before vacationing," she said.

"Holidaymakers without insurance could find themselves liable for expensive medical bills."

Britons who wish to arrange travel insurance can choose to arrange either single trip insurance or extended-term travel insurance such as annual cover policies.
