Britons looking to escape the gloomy UK weather could end up in a spot of bother if they do not have car insurance when they take their beloved vehicles overseas.
NFU Mutual, a car insurance specialist , has advised holidaymakers that theft or accidents are a real possibility on the roads, meaning that the right level of cover could be critical.
Many UK residents are planning to take their vehicles on the short journey to France for the Rugby World Cup, potentially leading to disaster if a car insurance policy does not cover them in the event of such incidents, said the firm.
Laura Wood from NFU Mutual commented: "Driving on unfamiliar foreign roads can be a tricky business.
"It is important that you check whether you are covered in the event of an accident or theft."
However, the company also noted that such advice does not apply merely to those planning to watch their team play in the World Cup, according offering a series of tips to all drivers on how to stay safe outside of the UK.
England are the current World Cup champions, but are rated with little chance of retaining the crown.
