Thieves are becoming more sophisticated at stealing cars and this is affecting car insurance premiums as they rise to an all-time high, the AA has warned.
Crime is just one of the factors that could affect the rising cost of car insurance, a spokesperson for the car insurance company has stated
Car keys are being fished out of peoples houses through their letter boxes, it has emerged, as criminals look for new ways to evade complex modern alarm systems.
Ian Crowder, a spokesperson for AA, commented that car insurance is rising due to a number of different factors such as crime and uninsured drivers.
Gangs of thieves are now targeting BMW and Mercedes vehicles, although Mr Crowder notes that "modern cars are almost impossible to break into and steal", hence why sophisticated methods are now being employed by criminals.
He added that uninsured drivers are continuing to be "a blight" on UK roads and cars are now more expensive to fix as they become more complicated in design.
The AA has also announced that inner city drivers are more likely to pay higher car insurance premiums than those who live in leafy suburbs.
