Car insurance customers in the UK may be boosted by news that Tesco is offering a new system to check the quality of a used car.
According to the financial services provider, many cars are written off each year by car insurance companies as they are too dangerous to be allowed onto the roads - part of the 500,000 write-offs each year.
However, this doesn’t stop nefarious fraudsters "fixing them up" and selling them to unsuspecting honest motorists.
Allan Burns, head of Insurance at Tesco Personal Finance, comments: "We would encourage motorists to shop around for their car checks in the same way they would for their vehicle as there are considerable savings to be made."
He said that the new offering from his company provides a simple and speedy service to car insurance customers, offering them good value and peace of mind.
In other motor insurance news, a new study by Towergate has revealed that more than a quarter of caravan owners have no insurance policies for their holiday vehicles. This equates to about 500,000 uninsured vehicles, the company's figures suggest.
