Health insurance customers may be interested to hear that Bupa Hospitals is launching a new website that aims to provide information about obesity and weight-loss surgery.
The healthcare specialist, which also offers services such as private medical insurance, has justified the need for a new information portal by pointing out that a quarter of UK adults are clinically obese - and that this proportion is expected to rise over the coming years.
Included on the website is a body mass index calculator, which informs users if they are clinically obese or not, and a booklet that explains weight-loss surgery in detail to health insurance customers.
Dr Jean-Jacques de Gorter, clinical director for Bupa Hospitals, commented on the new website launch.
"With obesity on the increase across the UK, it is absolutely vital to provide accurate and easy-to understand information for people who may be concerned they have a serious weight problem," she said.
In other Bupa news news, last month saw Bupa Travel launch a new travel insurance product aimed at people on a career break.
Targeted at travellers aged between 36 and 45 years old, the product is an extension of the youth-oriented Explorer travel insurance package.
It covers adventure activities such as rafting and gorilla trekking.
