Insurance policyholders have been put on alert by news that Post Office Financial Services is providing free cover to new customers.
In recognition of the fact that the organisation has now sold more than 500,000 insurance policies, it is offering a month's complimentary protection to all people who take out a new home insurance, van insurance or car insurance policy.
Prospective customers have been urged to act quickly by switching their insurance policy to the financial services provider at one of the Post Office's 14,300 branches nationwide.
Patrick Waldron, chief executive officer of the financial services company, commented on the organisation's expansion into the insurance market to date.
"Our aim at launch was to become a major player in the financial services industry and now, reaching half a million customers with our insurance products alone, we are definitely on target to achieve this," he said.
In the UK, it is illegal to drive without a minimum of third party motor insurance cover.
Moreover, a number of mortgage brokers make it a lending condition that the mortgage applicant takes out home insurance cover.
