British skiers and riders are being urged to take out suitable travel accident insurance for their ski and snowboard holidays before leaving for their destination.
The warning has been issued by the Ski Club of Great Britain and is intended to help skiers and riders avoid paying enormous bills in the event of an accident .
According to a survey on the clubs website, 34 per cent of people said that their travel insurance covered their basic needs or they were not covered at all. The club also pointed out that people could get into difficulties if an accident occurred and they had taken a risk by not taking out any insurance at all, or because they had failed to purchase adequate cover.
Information manager at the Ski Club of Great Britain, Alyn Morgan, said: "The key is to read the small print and make sure your policy covers you for all the activities you will be taking part in."
