Anyone jetting off for a skiing holiday might want to think twice before they buy a one off travel insurance policy, one expert says.
Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at moneysupermarket.com, explains that often a multi-trip travel insurance policy can prove cheaper than its single-trip equivalent.
He said that the cheapest worldwide annual travel insurance policy, including winter sports cover, for a family of four costs less that £58, whereas the cheapest single-trip insurance policy for a two week trip to the US was over £73.
Mr Gerrard added: "It pays to shop around [for travel insurance], especially if you are travelling more than once a year. There are obvious savings to be made, especially when winter sports cover is included."
At the start of the month a study conducted by MoneyExpert.com found that 12 per cent of people did not know what was covered by their travel insurance policy .
