It has been claimed by Tesco Health Insurance that its cover can be bought from £1.50 a day.
The insurer has based its estimates on a customer living outside of London, with an excess of £100 and 35 per cent no claims discount and presented examples of what customers of various ages would have to pay for its Core, Premium and Finest cover.
A 20-year-old buying Core cover would expect to pay £14.97 a month, but that would rise to £20.38 for someone aged 30 and £45.28 for a customer aged 55.
Tesco says that its policies combine value and simplicity as there arent any medical questions to answer for people under-75 and three levels of cover are offered. There is also a 35 per cent no claims discount available for new customers. Jeremy Sutton, head of Tesco Health Insurance, said: " Health insurance is about quickly finding out what's wrong with you and then making sure you have it treated promptly."
