The falling pound and high cost of fuel have increased the cost of many peoples holidays, but travel insurance has never been cheaper.
Financial research company, Defaqto, analysed more than 235 single trip and 245 annual travel policies, looking at how premiums have moved over the past few years. It found that the only area where prices have increased in the past year was for annual cover to the USA, with a typical policy for a family now costing £125.
The company says: "The availability of a huge number of policies, many of them online, has driven many insurers to lower their premiums." Single trip cover to Europe can now be bought for as little as £6 for a week's holiday . "There really should be no excuse for people to travel uninsured," the firm adds.
However, the company also advises buyers not just to look at the price and ensure that their policy offers the right level of cover for their needs.
