Aviva to offer cover for business equipment for those working from home

Mon, 22 Jun 2009

The insurance firm Aviva has stated that its home contents insurance policy will now provide cover for business equipment as standard.

With figures from the office for National Statistics revealing that over one million people in the UK now work from home, Aviva says home workers can now do so knowing that their equipment is covered in case of damage, fires, floods or theft. Under their policy, items such as laptops, printers, fax machines, phones and office furniture or equipment are covered up to a limit of £5,000.

Julie Fromant, home lifestyle manager at Aviva, said: "Mums and dads choosing to work flexi hours, the growing number of freelancers and higher levels of redundancy all mean that home working has become a real alternative to the corporate office."

In other news, Sheilas Wheels recently advised those who like to exercise at home to make their workout space as safe as possible to avoid any possible damage to their surroundings.
