The low cost airline Ryanair has signed a contract with Axa Travel Insurance which will see the company provide air passengers with cover ahead of their holidays .
Ryanair and Axa have joined forces to develop a travel insurance package for those flying with the discount airline and the partnership will come into operation in September 2010. Ryanair's Michael Cawley said: "The policy will mean that our passengers can access a competitively priced, tailor-made travel insurance product which suits their needs whether it is single-trip travel insurance for the family, winter sports cover or annual insurance for business travellers."
Previously, those booking a Ryanair seat automatically had insurance added to their bill. However, this changed as of April 2nd this year, as the airline had to conform to EU rules on pricing transparency.
Ryanair recently hit the headlines as chief executive officer Michael O'Leary announced that it will begin to charge passengers to use the toilets on board its aircraft.
