Experts say travel insurance is a necessity and not a luxury

A great number of people are travelling abroad without taking out travel insurance because they want to save money . However, industry experts Travel Insurance Web say that this could be a costly mistake.

The online travel insurance provider is warning people that instead of saving money, setting off without travel insurance could add hundreds or even thousands of pounds to the cost of their trip. The website stresses that in today's economic climate, adequate insurance protection is especially important as redundancies and the increasing cost of travel are putting more pressure on people's finances .

A Travel Insurance Web spokesperson said: "If someone on holiday suddenly becomes ill or has an accident, it could cost thousands of pounds if they don’t have travel insurance as back up. It doesn’t matter where you are going or for how long, getting adequate insurance cover is a necessity, not a luxury."
