Insurance firm Saga has launched a breakdown repair protection which can be bought by customers as an add-on for vehicle breakdown assistance .
With this additional policy, customers will be given the chance to claim back the costs incurred by labour and replacement parts up to the value of £500 should the damage be so extensive that they are prevented from concluding their journey. It will cover breakdowns which result from failing starter motors, alternators, head gaskets and batteries, as well as other faults.
Chief executive of Saga Andrew Goodsell said: "If you are unlucky enough to have a breakdown the last thing you want is to be faced with an unplanned repair bill before you are able to continue your journey."
Recently, Laura Starkey from BeatThatQuote.com wrote in the Independent newspaper that taking a Pass Plus course could help young drivers in search of cheaper car insurance .
