Brits find internet useful for travel information and insurance

Thu, 26 Mar 2009

An increasing number of Brits are using the internet for travel information, according to FairFX.com.

The website revealed that holidaymakers are turning to the internet to sort out travel issues such as finding out airport parking and airport hotel information in advance. The firm also found that an increasing number of travellers were using the internet to sort out their foreign currency .

Stephen Heath, chief executive of FairFX.com, said: "What we are finding in this current economic environment - as is the case with low cost air fares or travel insurance – is that people are looking to the internet for price comparisons as opposed to the traditional methods of buying currency .

Recently, UK holidaymakers planning to visit the Channel Islands have been told that they must have travel insurance. The Department of Health has stated that UK holidaymakers will now have to pay for any medical treatment as, by the end of March, the agreement that allows a limited number of travellers from the UK access to free medical treatment is to come to an end.
