Before travelling abroad, Brits should ensure that their travel insurance includes health cover as accidents related to health are the most likely problems to arise while on holiday .
According to research recently conducted by InsureandGo, the top five problems that Brits face while abroad are medical, lost luggage, flight cancellation, lost or stolen money and delays. The study also found that uninsured Brits had to pay out £90 million last year as a result of mishaps abroad, which is an increase of 38 per cent compared to 2007.
Perry Wilson, founder of the firm InsureandGo, said: "The main crux of it is medical problems . People don't understand that when they go abroad, especially Europe, they'll patch you up but you won't get a free ticket home ." However, those travellers who do take out insurance should make sure they disclose all existing medical conditions as recent research carried by Sainsburys Travel found that 1.3 million people last year failed to do so.
